Revision on 10/21/13

I had my revision to Gastric Bypass 10 months ago.  In 10 months, my Vitamin C level has dropped sooooo low twice that it was a severe deficiency.  Both times, I knew something just wasn't right and had to push my PCP to do labs (grrrrr) and even with that, she did few if any vitamin level checks.  I take multivitamins, but honestly, most make me so sick at my stomach, I generally stick with Flinstones + Iron multiple times/day and seem to live on Zofran.  In the last 10 months, I've also had kidney infections and a kidney stone thrown in there too.  Some of my other levels look low - not below limits, but at the bottom.  I am switching to an Internal medicine specialist in hopes that he can help me sort it out and have an appt scheduled with my gastroenterologist as well.

It's been a rough couple of years.  I am a triple play when it comes to WLS, and the last one was NOT my choice; I didn't want it and was quite happy with my weight (wouldn't have qualified for WLS except that it was to correct issues with my tummy).  In 03/2004, I had a lapband, which was great for a year or two, but then I started having issues with it.  In 12/2009, I had it removed and converted to gastric sleeve, which I loved, loved, loved.... until the acid reflux became severe and I started waking up several times/week throwing up.  Waking up with lettuce coming out your nose is NOT much fun.... Unfortunately, it was also aspirating into my lungs which are in kind of bad shape now due to scar tissue.  Where my lapband once was, there was scar tissue basically cutting my baby tummy in half and it had turned it into an hourglass and food didn't go down so well.  After going to 3 separate doctors and hearing the exact same story (only option is another revision to RNY), I converted to RNY last Oct.  I no longer have to worry about aspirating in my sleep, but still have so many issues, many of them new.  I dehydrate frequently (especially if I fly), my urine often has blood from my kidneys, I've had a kidney stone, nauseated so much of the time, if I forget a single PPI, my intestines (instead of my esophagus) are on fire, and to top it off... Scurvy.  I don't have much tummy left or many options... I'm feeling pretty discouraged.

Anyone else been there?
