I've applied to join the failed lap band group. Haven't heard back so far but it sounds like I will be joining a fairly big crew!

I didn't realise so many of us had these problems to be honest. Just thought I had "failed" the band. Out of all the people I know personally who have been banded, all of them have had difficulties - some more serious than others.

Surgery is in 13 days. It's all being done in one go - removal of band and creation of the sleeve. The surgeon said that he thought that the risks in doing the surgery in one go were outweighed by the risks of to general anaesthetics. He hasn't asked me to do a liquid diet beforehand either but I have been more vigilant about what I eat in any case.

In the meantime, walking my six month old puppy is giving me a fair bit of exercise too! I have organised a dog walker to come in and take her for a walk for at least the first week of recovery! Back to work a week or so after the operation.

It does feel like a second chance to get this right and I welcome it.
