Gastric Bypass RNY revision by lengthening the roux limb
My revision has been approved. My Dr would like to lengthen the roux limb from 100cm to the standard 150cm. My pouch size is still a reasonable size of 4-5oz. I understand the success rate to be one in three for this type of revision. Has anyone had their limb lengthened and was weight loss successful?!?!?!
If you are considering a more distal procedure in order to lose more weight then I would look into a DS. The ERNY, which is a more distal RNY, doesn't seem to be worth the trouble. More problems from malabsorption with minimal additional weight loss. The worse of both worlds is how I have heard it described.
WLS 10/28/2002 Revision 7/23/2010
High Weight (2002) 240 Revision Weight (2010) 220 Current Weight 115.
I was revised to distal in January 2013. I started at 235 and am at 145 currently. I have a 130 common channel. Everything is going okay still. Since surgery, I have to watch my dairy intake, so now I do almond milk. Also in vitamins, I had to add dry vitamin D to my daily vitamins.
I am currently awaiting approval by BCBS for the same Gastric Bypass RNY Revision. I is great to hear a succsess story! May I keep in touch fwith you for pointers. Most speake negative about this type revision. My surgeon alson plans to retrim my stomach. My initial surgery was 3/19/2003, I was 296 lbs. loss 100, back up to 258 lbs. I already drink Alond milk. I pray this works for me, because I plan to work it!!!
