I am wondering about the potential for weight loss following revision.

I had vertical banded gastroplasty in 1987. Regained a good portion of the weight. Planning on RNY revision on April 16. I have severe stomal stenosis and terrible acid reflux.  I am a 60 year old female with arthritis that somewhat  limits my ability to exercise.  Highest weight 267. Lowest following VBG was 185. Regained to 242 over 25 years. Current weight is 202. 5' 3".

Has anybody had a similar situation or have any knowledge about how much I might expect to lose?   Is it a lower percent of EWL than for an RNY alone?

VBG in 1987:  HW 267      Recent HW:  242  SW 196 Revision to RNY on April 16, 2014.

Hi, like you I had vbg in 2003.  Worked pretty well except for the vomiting and reflux then all of a sudden I realized I was eating more than I usually did.  Gained about 40 lbs back and unable to lose. I am 62 now and am going for RNY as my staple line completely disrupted and I am moving into insulin and do not want to have to test blood and give myself shots.  My doc says RNY will reverse my diabetes so here I go on 8/28/14.  I too my short 5'2", my weight is around 240 but I am not weighing until preop next week.

So how did you do?  Do you feel better? Is the reflux gone, boy I hope so!
