Revision RNY gastric bypass

Thanks for your message! I too tried desperately to get back on track before agreeing to revision surgery.

I was going to another referred Bariatric Dr in Denton who did the upper GI and said my pouch was still small..about the size of my fist. With that, he said I needed to re-learn how to use my pouch and begin loosing again and totally refused another surgery. He gave me a diet plan, adipex diet pills (that were way too strong for me even after taking half), and after 7 mths and more money spent on his diet plan and specialist fees than I care to mention I stopped going. I did well at first and lost about 30 lbs but ultimately gained it back again rather fast.

This is when I was referred to Dr A, who basically said an upper GI will not show the small intestines which is where most of the RNY patients problems lie...so he didn't even care to see the records...he went ahead and ordered the endoscopy, where everything he had drawn on his board for me was very visibile on xray.  Once I return for my follow-up with Dr A I'll have more questions answered. He did talk to me about everything but I honestly was so out of it that I don't recall much...and to my family it was like hearing a foreign language...so with the followup the week of Nov 25th I most def plan to ask all these questions again about what he did EXACTLY, and then I'll let you know.

I wish you well on your journey. You sound determined to give it another try before turning to surgery and I'm in total agreement with that.

12 days post op and I returned to work today!!! I feel good. I have an office job and no lifting or anything threatening involved. I'm down 17 lbs. I'm walking as much as I can. I intentionally print copies at the copier up the hall so I can walk more...and it certainly makes me feel better instead of sitting and getting stiff. I see Dr A and the nurse tomorrow to have discussions about exactly what was done in detail and to have the 20 staples removed.

That worrisome incision pain is no more! Glory to God!! They told me the more I walk the better I'll feel...that was the last bother I had and there's no pain, no discomfort, and I don't have to necessarily sleep on my back to avoid my stomach.

Hello! Yesterday was 1 mth since revision surgery and I'm doing pretty good. I'm down 27 lbs, and down almost 2 pant sizes. I feel good...staying as active as I can and do lots of walking. Dr Alexander has his revision patients on soups ONLY after the first 3 wks...and then we stay on the soups for a month. I never thought I'd be so tired of soup...LOL...but I can have any ingredients in them as long as I chew very well. Tom Thumb has great homemade soup in the deli section...something I never knew until now.

Hi Audreya

My revision with Dr.A was yesterday I'm currently still in the hospital .I have finally started ice chips only and I have been walking up and down this hospital floor.LOL...

I have 6 incision staples /glued I do fill a little discomfort from the gas in my tummy and my  pre surgery weight was 213 . I sure hope I will have lost at least that much for my 1 month that will put me under the 200's.

Wow! Your surgery went as planned even with the horrible weather? That's great, and so wonderful seeing you in good spirits after 1 day. You're going to do great! Will be under 200 before you know it! Yes dear, walk, walk, walk! It really does the body good! Please take care and get home safely!

It's been a couple of months since I posted. I had Revision surgery 4 mths go...I'm down 50 lbs....have 40 to go. I feel great...no complications whatsoever. I can eat just about anything but I don't! I'm sure to get in as close to 100 grams protein a day. I walk a lot and that's helped tremendously. I drink lots of protein shakes..still seaching for one that taste good enough for me to say I love it. The Premier Protein shakes from Tom Thumb or Walmart taste very close to chocolate milk, and the Pure Protein bars taste like a Snickers bar....yummy! I've gotten these at Costco and Sams also...so they're readily available at different stores.

For those of you in the Dallas area...I took my big girl clothes to this place called Clothes Mentor in Garland. They buy them back and resale...and if you're lucky you can find nice, economical items there to hold you over until you drop another size. No need to invest so much when you won't be in that size for long.
