If removal of my band is medically necessary, why would insurance not cover it?

Oh ok. Because when I had RNY in 2000 my insurance said only if it were medically necessary. I got approved but everyone I know that applied was denied.  Then this year they put that if you met the qualifications of bmi of 40 and did 3 months of diets, had psychological and nutrition consult you could have WLS surgery. I think it's because my agency is pushing being healthy and physical fitness. I work for the government and now they have even put healthy stuff in the vending machines.....

I was in a similar situation and the insurance covered the removal b/c it was medically necessary.  My band slipped and I could not swallow my own saliva.  My surgeon even told me the insurance would have to cover it regardless of where I had the surgery.  The doctor's should definitely try.
