What surgery are your going to and from.  Going from RNY to DS is a VERY big decision.  If going from a band to VSG, DS, RNY isn't as big a decision as long as they are experienced in band complication damaged stomachs and the surgery you are going to.  The ideal situation is to use a surgeon that has done all and will give you honest advise.  Many centers including Mayo are no longer doing the band, so as long as they have done them so realize what they can be getting into.
