BOBs- what type and size band did you get?

Lap or realize? 4,10,14 cc? What was your effective fill cc?

Quite often the surgeon has a favorite type or one that he is more familiar with and he will choose what type and size is used. I don't know about BOB but with a regular band it is very individual where each persons effective fill level is, one might do fine with just 2 ccs where another may go right up to the max so it is dificult to give numbers. Thanks! I'm most interested in the band types. My potential surgeon offers both. Data says there isn't a difference but I'd liked to hear people's opinions.

I agree with Hislady - band brand is the opinion of the surgeon, I have a lap band.  As for size however, it depends on the amount of scar tissue you have. I have a 14cc band.  I have 9cc in my band and Ill be 2 yrs out for my BOB in June. I hae .1cc last month.  It was my first fill in like 6 mos.  Everyone is different for fill volume. All I will say is that its an experiment.  You need to go at it slowly, a little at a time.

Our center has both.  The surgeon told me they were only doing the realize band as some patient said they wanted it and would go some place else for it.  He felt the lap had a longer track record and had already changed it to improve it.  Take it for what it is worth.  I personally haven't done any research.  I now the lap has pillows all the way around and that the realize was solid but one area didn't cover.  Just the info from the surgeon.

I have a 4cc total fill capacity band. I'm at around 1.25, what I really need is around 1.75 cc in, at 2cc put in I'm too tight and vomiting everything...there is such a fine line with the band..
