I had mine on Dec. 17th.  I was thinking today that it's made some of this easier because I already learned to chew my food well and take smaller bites.

I'm down 30 pounds, even though my doctor said I would probably lose slower (and not as much) because my metabolism slowed with the band (I need to lose about 100 lbs).

As far as the actual surgery, from what I've been reading, it was no better or worse than anyone else.

I was really nervous too but the closer it got, the calmer I was.  Good luck to you.

I go for my cardio clearance on the 29th then I get a surgery date.  I too am going from band to bypass.  I wish you the best of luck.  We should be buddies since our surgeries will be close together!

I am two years post op my band to bypass revision. And I love my life now. I'm down over 100 pounds. Wow that feels so good to say. Band life was not for me. My body just didn't like it. I would get an adjustment, start to feel restriction, and it'd slip.

None of that with the Bypass. I had a slow recovery (compared to the band, but not other rny'ers). I lost pretty consistantly for 8 months, then my body said enough of that. I've struggled to loose since then. But I have. When I go to basics, eating protein first. Making sure I get my 60+ grams of protein, then I loose again. So it's user error.

I'm down from a size 24W to a size 12, some 10's. Things I never thought i'd do, I'm doing. I bought shirts in the JUNIORS department, and they were to big.

The whole practicing eating small bites with the band, prior to the RNY, did help some, but you'll really become a pro now. Exercise has to be a part of it. You need to utilize your tool.

Nerves are a part of any surgery. When I went for my tummy tuck, I was an absolute wreck.

Best of luck to you!!  Please keep us updated on how it goes.  I had a LB in April 2008, went from 292 to 240, give or take a few pounds, had an upper GI which showed a slip back in May.  I'm sure I had been slipped for at least a couple years because of the reflux and pain I was having.  I had the band emptied back in May and am now back up to around 260.  I am scheduled for a revision on February 12.  I'm excited, but nervous!

My surgeon told me that my risk of any complications weren't any greater than someone going in for RNY the first time.  He also told me he didn't expect my weight loss to be any slower with the revision and predicts I'll get down to between 140-150 lbs when all is said and done.  I sure hope all this is true!!

For me it has been the best thing ever unfortunately I lost my band 16 months before I got my bypass revision and the weight gain was horrible so you have a head start doing it this way good luck with your surgery there is no need to worry everything will be just fine. I was able To have a 50 pound Headstart from when I got my lap band but the weight loss has been slow going for me
