RNY to Distal RNY? Doc called it a BPD to Revision.
I had RNY in 2003. Then had a revisionevised to what my doctor called BPD in 09. Basically my intestines were just bypassed for malabsorption. I became very sick, they revised to lengthn the bypassed area. After a long battle my health is great. I'm able to absorb and just trying to figure out how to actually eat now. I've done the Weigh****chers and lose about 20 lbs. and then nothing else. I tend to go low fat low carb.
Am I suppose to eat High Fat/Low Carb/High Protein?
Here is an example day of what I eat.
Breakfast
2 eggs, ham & Cheese on a slimwich
Water Water Water
Lunch
Protein with veg
Snack
Fruit & Nuts
Dinner
Protein Protein 7 Veg
Snack
Protein
Proteins are normally low fat ones. Should I be going for more high fat? Any help is greatly appreciated.
I know I don't get enough Protein in or water. Getting shakes this weekend. Anything else to help increase weight loss?
Thanks
Unless you have bad reactions to fat I wouldn't goo low fat. I just make sure the fats I eat are food ones like avocados and nuts. I have a similar configuration and I eat very high protein, at least 100 grams a day or more, don'****ch fats at all, use full fat sour cream and butter and cheese with abandon and avoid all things with gluten and sugar and processed food.
Also, make sure you are getting the right supplements and labs. Check out vitalady.com for what you need. Your diet looks ok but I would kill the slimwich and eat more eggs, meat, nuts and eggs. I also still use protein drinks to make sure I meet my protein goal. Dense protein sources with help you with your hunger. I eat the protein first and if I have room I eat vegetables and maybe some starchy things like a potato, which by then is about a bite or two. I eat fruit occasionally but not regularly, just not that interested in it.

What you need to do first is get your operative report so we can figure out exactly what surgery you have now. You could have a plain BPD, or you could have a BPDw/DS. Since this will affect how and what you malabsorb, it's pretty important to know which. It also affects what vitamins you need to supplement. Can you post your latest lab results?
Please take a look at this post.....

There is a reply there from Dr. Keshishian, and a link to a very good piece of information. My suggestion would be to take a look.
