Could I ask why you are suggesting other options?

I'm suggesting other options because NO ONE should choose without knowing everything  available.  If you doubt this, visit the Revision board---it's chock-full of people who made the wrong choice the first time around.

There are four major forms of WLS, and no on should have ANY without understading ALL of them.

The other option MsBatt suggested has the best track record both as a virgin surgery, and as a revision surgery (many RNY and bands revise to the DS, not the other way around) for weight loss and maintenance of that loss.

Surgery is a big deal, get the right one.

I would explore all your options, there have been advances in WLS and there are different procedures that might work better for you. I had the old stomach stapling in 97 and my DS revision 4 years ago, I had never heard of the DS until I found this revision board and checked it out for myself. It wasn't easy, I had to leave Canada and self pay to get the surgery I wanted. Just check out all your choices and see what works best for you.

Sorry this a newbie question but what exactly is a RNY to RNY revision? What do they do to the existing pouch and intestines that would benefit the person so that they can lose more weight or the weight that they regained? Thanks in advance

Most of the time surgeons doing a "virgin" surgery will be medial (76cm) worth of shortening...if the person is heavy like 600 lbs they may do 70-100 cm which they did to my friend thus shes' never had a solid BM.  I was done 76cm and in my revision I went and the dr shorten my Y junction to 150cm...so it's Distal.  That's commonly known as a RNY to Distal RNY revision...

I had my original RNY in 2004 at 76cm and lost 110lbs. Have had 30-35 lb regain in the last 2 years and just ended up doing a Revision to Distal RNY (150cm).  Thus far only lost 21 lbs and it's been S L O W....and it naturally is supposed to be...I still have all the connections and I'm not suposed to have rapid weight loss like the first time...only time will tell.  At 150cm I should have or so they said...more lose stools but I guess if Im eating less and not bad foods I just have one BM a day which is fine with me!! lol

I had rny to rny revision. Not regretting it. In 6 weeks Ive, lost 30lbs. The Dr. said the weight loss would be slow this time, but seems lightening quick to me. Unlike those suggesting a radical DS, I'm satisfied with the rny. Sometimes its not the surgery that failed, but the person who loses focus. I will say that the pain, recovery, adjustment was easier this time because I already knew, what to expect.
