Late update!

I made goal..well past goal in 13.5 Months post-op RNY to DS revision w/ Dr Roslin.

HW:382 (before RNY), got down to 197 for like 3 days and back over 200 lbs.  Stayed around 220 for years and regained.
DS SW: 298
GW: 170
CW: 165

Went to Jamaica for a week last week, ate whatever I wanted and didn't gain and ounce.  LOVE MY DS!!

PRE-OP 298 lbs

POST-OP  165 lbs

I also went horseback riding while in Jamaica...something I never could do before because I was too heavy!!

Nothing feels better than being able to go into ANY store and fit their clothes!

Revision on 12/10/12
 Hi,
Congratulations you look fantastic. I am looking into the revisions as well. Did you have any surgical complications? I will be traveling and my surgeon is 5 hours away. I worry about care once I return home.

Best,
Whitney

Hi Whitney -

I traveled as well for my surgey...3 hours. Only complication I had/have is I have bad acid relux now, which I never had before. Some days are better than others.

Congrats on your success!
This has me worried-- I'm scheduled to have RNY on August 28th... my fear is not losing enough or gaining it back. Does this happen often? This will be my second surgery. I was banded 5.5 yrs ago with very little success. I'm in a different place now mentally and want to be successful forever with this surgery... help!

The DS has the very best long-term, maintained weight-loss stats. You really should research it now, while you still have an intact stomach. Revising the RNY to a DS is a very complicated procedure, that not many surgeons can do.

Congragulations Shavonne!
You look wonderful. I too am having  a revision done but am really concerned about whether or not I should have a DS or have an RNY reviison t o RNY( I have a fistula). I am concerned whether or not I will have the weightloss I need from the RNY and am concerned if I did the DS how bad the malaborption is. Any thoughts would be great!
Thanks
Sharon

With both the RNY and the DS, some people handle the malabsorption better than others. The key, with either procedure, is to get complete bloodwork done on a regular basis, and keep an eye on your levels. Don't rely on your doctor to do this for you---you need to do this YOURSELF, because your health is far more omportant to you than it is to your doctor. (*grin*) You should keep a spreadsheet so you can spot trends and tweak your supplements before you get in trouble.
