Also laughing that the Titanic comment, but it's so true.

I was gonna chime in, but Taz summed it up perfectly.

Just because we didn't have a RNY first, doesn't mean we don't know the reasons for not having a band, with or without the RNY first.

BAND REMOVED 9-4-12-fought insurance to get sleeve and won! Sleeved 1/22/13! Five years out and trying to get that last 15 pounds back off.

But a Band and a Band over Bypass are 2 totally different things. Just like a person who has a DS initially and then reverts to one after RNY.  A revision of any type is a totally different animal.  Please recognize that!

I have been wondering about this since I have heard of the BOB.  Is it a totally different band?  Does it have a port going to it?  Does it tighten down on the stomach tissue?

Its the same band, either realize of allergen, but, if you had an RNY and it failed, chances are it was due to an enlarged stoma or a stretched pouch.  Mine was a stretched pouch. I still dump a bit and have some malabsorption.  The lapband surgery is 100% the same, the difference is mechinically, a kap band stomach and a BOB stomach differ.

So is the band placed at the bottom around the stoma or around the little pouch.  Is it the same for stretched pouch and the enlarged stoma?

How long have you had your BOB?

I had my RNY in 2002 (wow, my 10yr anniversary is on the 15th) and my BOB June 23, 2011.  So, I am 14 mos out. I lost all my regained weight (70lbs).

Here is a pic of the BOB. http://www.stopobesityforlife.com/obesity_surgery/correcting _obesity/procedures/band_over_bypass/

I'm with LadyTaz here---an endoscopic gastrojejunostomy is a feeding tube, not something you can live with the rest of your life.

I strongly urge you to consutl with a revision specialist who can revise your RNY to a DS. That would be Dr. Roslin if you're on the East coast, or either Dr. Rabkin ot Keshishian if you're on the West coast. If you're in the middle of the country, see Dr. Stewart in Texas, or Dr. Kemmenter in Michigan. There are a few more, and you can find them on www.dsfacts.com

Nothing is fool proof, but the band is a bad choice, regardless. A lot of people think the band is great for a year or two... until it starts damaging your body.
