EGD Completed & now onto revision & insurance issues. . .
Well I had my EGD yesterday (Wednesday) @ 6:15 in the morning! Got to the hospital a little early and was definitely nervous. Not so much for the actual procedure, but for what the results were going to show. So afraid that the results would show a non-stretched pouch & stoma Sooo not the case, definitely have a stretched pouch & stoma! The procedure itself was pretty easy and according to my friend was very quick. She said by the time they took me back to the room and by the time they wheeled me back into my post-op re-cooperation room, it was like 20 mins total. I was pretty groggy when the doctor came in to talk to my friend and me, to tell us the results. I remember him saying both were pretty large and a revision is going to need to be done to fix this. He left and after a little while later came back in (as I was more awake and aware) and showed me some pics of my insides. He explained them to me, which I really had no idea what I was looking at lol but nonetheless it was cool to see. He did take some biopsies and say those would take a few days before he got the results on those, but either way a revision is the next step. So he said he will call next week and we will schedule an appointment to discuss the revision and what kind and how to deal with the insurance issue. I remember before I began this journey I had spoke to the insurance lady in his office and asked her how revisions generally went with MediPass Iowa and she said anytime Medicaid is going to pay for a bariatric surgery of any kind they always require a 6-month supervised diet. However, she did say if a endo is done and they find something wrong with the pouch/stoma, they tend to waive the required 6-month supervised diet because a diet isn't going to "fix" a stretched pouch or stoma.
I AM PRAYING THAT THIS BE THE CASE FOR ME!! So we will see!
In any event, does anyone know more about this or gone through this? I know Medicaid differs from state to state, but I am just wondering. Any and all comments are appreciated. Thanks ahead of time!

Just crossin my fingers that they waive a 6-month sup diet..but if they don't oh well. We do what we have to do, don't we?? lol Anyway, I really am hoping you get yours as I do know how very badly you want and need it. You're in my thoughts and hope it all turns out for u they way u would like.
