Desiring revision and desiring vital information
Greetings to anyone *****ads this post. I just had a couple of questions for people who have the revision surgery or who are wanting it. I had Roux-En-Y back in July of 2008 and presently I have regained all my weight loss. I started out at 220 and my lowest was around 170. I worked out like crazy and consumed what I told was acceptable. I noticed my weight loss seem to taper off around 6 months after my surgery which I found very odd. With that I noticed I could eat more. Anyway, I have since moved to another area of where my initial surgery took place. I guess my questions are what kind of things do the doctors look at when it comes to deciding in revision is right for you? What might base their denial on? Also, what do you experience post surgery. I know every patient is different but I'm talking in general. Like some of the things we experience post first surgery? A little background information on me, I'm 29 and in pretty good health other than being morbidly obese again, having the urination frequency again, and joint pain. Any and all responses are appreciated in advance! Thanks so much everyone!

Hey, just wanted to say thanks for your response! Have you met with your surgeon yet? When you do, please be sure to let me know the outcome. I have to have my past med records sent to this surgeon who I would like to do the surgery, since I am no longer in the area of where I had my original surgery done. So I guess once he's looked over them, he will let me know if I can set up a time to meet with him and discuss a revision surgery. I pray that he ok's it bc my insurance will cover it if he deems it medically necessary. Anyways, good luck and be sure to keep me posted!

But this surgery had failed me because. When I had the surgery i barely lost any weight. The protein shake he had me take was causing me to gain weight . so my surgent who did my RNY prescribe me diet pill ( phenterimine with the Lypotropic shots that help me loose from 215 to 165..
I just recently had a baby I gained 80lb. During my 30 wk check My GYN refered me to to see a dr. to do an upper gi to see if my baby was ok being that I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes. it shoewd my stoma was to big my old dr. didnt reduce it enough he
The dr. said you gained more weight then you were before you had sugery. He said the wls had failed, me because I should haad never need to be on diet pills to help me loose my weight & being that Ididn't loose at least 100lb show that it was the surgery that had failed. and that if I wabnted a revision come see him after I have my baby. Well iI had her 3-1-2012 i left the hospital weighing 275lb and went back to my diet dr. I WEIGH now 238. Iam considering a revision because the minute I GO off theses pills then the weight comes back.
Before I got pregnant i weighed 195lb . every time i gain weight i run back to the diet dr to get back on pills and my body plateas at 165. I work out 2 hrs a day 6 days a week stayed away from all white flower, sugar, eat 1 slie of wheat bread a day , eat 3 serving vetable 9 ounces of protein a day .drink a gallon of water .and could not loose any more weight. Im tired of taking diet pills its seems like this is the only thing that helps me. When i dont take diet pills I just maintain the same weight . Iam in the process of switching insurance so I have to weight . and I was trying to wait until my baby gets a little older before I do the surgery. This is frustrating to me.

Tonya,
I had to have my surgical notes faxed over to this new doc from my old doc (6 hours away now). Then when I called to make sure they got them I got an appt for June 8th. I like I said keep telling myself this dr makes his money off of WLS not diets and not saying no. I am trying to figure out what to tell him that will get him to approve it. When I ask the other posters what they told thier doctors the response of Most all of them is a major life event caused them to fall off the program. I am thinking that my sleep apnea will carry alot of weight with the doctor as a reason to go ahead with it.
My heart is heavy and I am so bummed because I may have to wait till December due to my inablity to save enough money for my spend down until then. I am bummed because I could get the surgery in July except that I am the one who will not be ready to do it due to money. RATS. If I have to wait until January then I pray that social security does not get a cost of living raise in 2013 because just $20 dollars will put me over the limit of being able to get financial help from Medicaid making me unable to get the surgery.
I will friend you and Let you know what happens (details) at the consult. If they make me pay a surgeons fee and a Anesthesiologist co pay upfront before the surgery (last surgeon did require it) that is what will make me wait so long.
Hey,
Well, I hope you get approved from the surgeon and your insurance. As I was reading your post, I noticed that when u stated most of the revision patients said they fell off the program due to a life changing event, that does make a lot of sense. I am waiting for my surgeon's office to mail me a release of info form so I can fax it back to them and then they can fax it to this surgeon up here. Hopefully I can get all that accomplished this coming week. I am just praying that God will let this happen for me. I feel that its my only option. Anyway, my page is set to private but if you want you can friend request me that way you can view my page. I'll maybe make it public in the future but for now its going to stay private. Well, again good luck and I will keep you posted with whatever I find out as well.
