Newbie Here! RNY to Apollo Revision
Hi J, thanks for your update.
I wish you the very best with your results. I didn't know what to expect but hoped for the full feeling to come back and I got that. Hang in there. I don't know your situation, but I give kudo's to my Dr. who has built a very good support and information system of great nurses and past revision patients. i didn't get anything like that 11 years ago. I learned anything I did from an online Yahoo Group for weight loss surgery patients out at least one year from surgery. If it weren't for them I would probably have been malnourished and gained all the weight back after my original GB surgery. Special thanks to Vitalady of Vitalady.com who was so helpful to me.
I made a decision before the surgery to behave as if I was completely starting over. I had the surgery 12/28. I stayed on the clear and full liquids until 1/11 when I went on soft foods and I am going to stay on them until 1/23 if I can. . I am relying on the protein shakes and drinking 70 grams of protein a day, I am adding one soft food a day and really really appreciating it and eating verry slowly. I stop when the full feeling comes. I can't shrink my pouch but I can learn to eat like I first had it. I stopped caffeine, alcohol and sugary foods over 15 g per serving. Do I like it? Nope. I love food, I am a foodie and wine lover, but I decided I had to take this chance and go for it, so I am. I weighed 206 on 12/27/12. I weigh 188 right now. I had a hernia repair at the same time. I haven't done any exercise but walk but I'm not a maniac about it. I just try to walk 20-40 as often as I can. After I'm cleared, I intend to start Nia Fitness because it looks like something I would enjoy and stick to, and some friends of mine really enjoy it. I am sticking to this commitment a day at a time. I know eventually I will drink wine again and eat more exciting food, but I want to lose as much as I can. The biggest change for me is getting the "I'm full" feeling back. I lost it and then I just let myself enjoy everything immensely. I will never say I won't do something, but I'm going to try.
Good for you! i have stopped diet coke and stopped drinking with my meals...I do feel fuller faster but not very much and definitely not enough to say that I am happy I did the surgery. I could go on a diet and stick to a strict regime but, I could have done that before the surgery so basically, I feel that I have paid 7,500 to feel fuller for longer.....idk if it's worth it but I'm so happy for you and hope the best for you.
J
This is still not a very reliable option with very little longterm positive results. Hopefully one of these people will see your post and respond. I feel that is unlikely though.
Best and good luck

Y do u say that it isn't a very reliable option? I am considering myself fortunate that Dr. Chand is even considering me for any procedure considering I have had two procedures before. I really just need the information on follow-up from the Bariatrician, Dietician and that person that evaluates your intake of food vs your exercise. I never had this before. I'm looking forward to it. I know the procedure warrants much less weight loss, but I feel like it will be a blessing now that I am looking at my weight as a disease of compulsivity and attending and working hard to change behaviors with my Therapist and OA.
