112 days
I am 112 days away from having my revision from Vertical Banded Gastroplasty to Gastric Bypass.....I had VBG 8 years ago, lost about 60 lbs and have gained it all back, struggling with trying to keep losing over the last 8 years. You name the diet I have done it, I have some success losing but then gain back plus some.
I am so grateful I am being given a second chance and what initially did not work, I don't know if the surgery itself fully failed me, I always felt I failed the surgery. I always thought I was able to eat way more than I should be able to, I had no support system and followed my sister in law who had the same surgery, she ate cheezies so I ate cheezies, she could eat a whole baked potato so I ate a whole baked potato on top of that I was a Pepsi addict, I switched to diet Pepsi and now am almost off it all together.
My doctor and I both agreed bypass was right for me, i've been struggling lately with my decision though. I have done all the research I can possibly do and still think bypass is for me considering all the pros and cons and I am dedicated and motivated to a life of forever and lasting change.
And this time I have a support system so I know I can do this and I will succeed...........

Hi Tammy
Good to "see" you here. . . .I am revising from a failed Band to Bypass at the end of the month. It was a tough decision for me to decide between the DS and the GBS, but the GBS ended up being the right choice for me because of my laundry list of health issues.
My best suggestion to you (if you are still having any doubts at all) would be to continue to hang out here, go to whatever support groups you can, do more research, talk to peeps on here and in support groups, and talk, talk, and then talk some more with your surgeon until you are completely comfortable with your decision.
It's great that you have a second opportunity at WLS; your date will be here before you know it! :)
