Thinking RNY to DS if my plastics gets denied
I am currently awaiting approval/denial from insurance on a 2nd request for skin reduction. I have been stuck in weight for 2 years and have so much frontal skin tugging on my lower back that effective exercising cannot happen without pain. I am on nightly muscle relaxers but it really doesn't help, I have tried 4 different kinds. Insurance wanted me to have a BMI of 30 to have skin reduction but doctors say with my body composition it is highly nlikely without the reduction. So, I am to the point that if denied, I will try to get a RNY revision to a DS approved but am not sure what usually is desired by insurances. Is it the same as for a first surgery where a min of 100lbs overweight? I am at 255 currently (was 425 before RNY in 2006) and they want me down to 180 for skin reduction. What are your stories if you have delt with this? I have BCBS. Thanks!
he RNY to DS revision is usually the standard NIH guidelines...... 40 BMI, or 35 BMI with co-morbidities like high blood pressure, sleep apnea, etc.
Good Luck!!!!!!!
