So far I've heard good results from it. If you look at some of the responses to this, you'll see 50+ lb losers!

Ilene, I had the BOB, I love it. Whiles its only been 9 mos, I am thrilled with the results, down 50+ pounds, can eat whatever I want, just significanly less and I have no hunger issues unless I got 6-8 hours without eating then I get severe hunger pains.  I was not "sick" enough with any co-morbidities to consider an RNY revision and it was just too damn dangerous.  The DS was out of the question bc of its severity and I knew too many people who had severe complications. Plus, I didn't have THAT much to lose.

I agree with you, the BOB is like a "new" procedure" with regard to insurance companies, but, I have Aetna and I didn't have to do much other than submit pwk, no pre-diet or psych evaulation. Might be bc I normally got approved for a RNY revision then switched to the BOB.

best of luck,
Heather

Thank you, Heather, for your input and wisdom! I'm glad to hear you're doing so well! It gives me hope. Basically the only health problems I have are related to arthritis (back and knees - which are affected by being overweight) and sleep apnea which has gotten worse since regaining some weight, so I'm not sure if the insurance company will consider it a medical necessity. I hope they do because I doubt that we can affort to do the revision (BOB is considered a RNY revision) without the insurance coverage. In the meantime I am reaching out to support groups, etc. to help get my mind back on track. I really appreciate your response!

Just something to think about---should you choose to revise your RNY to a DS, you'd then be able to take NSAIDs for that arthritis...

I would say go with the DS but  research all procedure's before making a decision.Ultimately the decision is yours and not your Md's or anyone else and good luck on your journey........Kenya
