I can tell you I had 1 surgery and was nervous as a wreck when I had my revision.  I did not want to have 2 surgeries but knew there was a chance.  I had a low BMI going into surgery so I was afraid if they did 2 surgeries the insurance would not pay for the second one.

I can tell you that if there is a lot of scar tissue they may do in 2 surgeries because they will clean out the scar tissue and wait for you to heal.

2nd reason for 2 surgeries is if the band has eroded.

I went in petrified that he wouldn't be able to do the surgery in 1 procedure and the first question I asked was did I have the bypass.

Talk  to your surgeon and really make sure you talk to him about ulcers, and really make sure you understand all of the complications that can happen with revisions.

I was lucky.  I have really had no problems but there are others that have had issues and I thank GOD I didn't

Tamara

I could have had it done at once but I decided against my revision type (sleeve plication/imbrication) and  on the table told my doc to just removed the band (so glad I done that!)

What it really depends on is the condition of your stomach when the band is removed.  You wouldn't want the best surgeon to work on you if your stomach tissue is too badly damaged from the band (think leaks).

I had my sleeve gastrectomy done 6 months after my band was removed.

All the best to you.

I got my revision from lapband to DS done in one shoot.  As everyone say it all depends on how much damage has been done already by the band.  Hopefully you dont have too much scare tissue to deal with while going in.  Good Luck

what do you get the scar tissue from? I am having a revision in 3 weeks from band to sleeve. I don't have a slipped or eroded band just have constant problems like eveyone does with getting stuck and puking. Have gained back what little I did loose becasue i can only eat salads and slider foods. I  am scared but can't wait to get rid of this band!
