PSA for revisionists

Need a revision or researching? Maybe this will help:

1. Research all of the surgery types yourself. Find out what the post-op living is like and whether YOU can live with it.

2. Ask yourself if you want to repeat what already failed you. This is your health and if your surgery failed you, why would you have the same thing done again?

3. Revisions are DIFFICULT, you need to be SURE that your surgeon has experience in them. There are excellent "virgin" surgery Dr.s that should not be doing revisions unless they have a lot of experience in revisions of the type YOU decided you want.

4. Go to the various boards here and ask about revisions. There are a lot of revisions that do not visit this board often. (sorry to say that I am one of them )

5. The same rules apply for revisions re: surgeons. If your surgeon only does one or two types of revision, that is what he is going to sell you. Research your surgery FIRST and then pick your surgeon.

6. Your Doctor / Surgeon works for YOU, they are not GOD and they don't live with you. YOU should know after your research what YOU want, not what your Dr. wants.

If you have anything to add to this list, feel free!

ETA: IF your insurance will cover a revision to RNY they can be made to cover a revision to DS in most cases, so if that is what you decide you want, don't dismay.

And I want to add:

DO NOT GIVE UP!!!!!  I have been researching, and researching.  When I first started my journey, I was "on the fence" about another WLS.  Then, I decided I wanted to go for it!!!!  I have been trying for nealy 3 YEARS to get my secondary insurance to approve me for my RNY to DS revision.  This OH websiteand the people on it have been the ones that have picked me up when I had denials, and helped with appeals.
