Denied for Revision from Band to RNY

I too am in the process of getting approved to have my crap band removed and revise to RNY.  I have different insurance from what I had before so am having to start from scratch.  Even though both my doctor and I had contacted my insurance company, when I recently called them, they had nothing in my record that this will be a revision.  The surgery is covered but since they are looking at it as an initial surgery, they want 6 to 12 months of monthly supervised weigh ins with my PCP.  I told them of the problems I'm having which was followed up by documentation from my doctor.  There should be more than enough information to justify not having to wait.  However, if they say I still have to wait, I will continue to work with them until they agree with me.  Hopefully it won't be 6 to 12 months down the road!  LOL!

As others have posted, don't give up.  You have plenty of reasons to have revision.  Hang in there and keep us posted.
