open revision recovery

for those that have had there revision and were NOT lap but open...how long after would you say help will be needed...

I had an open revision, I was in the hospital for 4 days and really needed my DH's help for about another week.

Yhanks...trying to line up help as DH cant get off work... he will be there the day of the surgery of course...

I was wondering what kind of revision you had ?  please let me know

I had a revision from a RNY to a DS last year.

I had open revision to RNY.  I took off two weeks work, my husband was home with me the first week. Honestly I wish he would have been home the second as well...he actually had to come home a few days to help me out....

I'm normally a quick healer, but had a reaction to my sutures and my incision opened back up...he had to help me change my dressings for about a month (I had to hold the incision closed and he'd have to reglue me prior to getting stitches).  Anyway, it was a small nightmare...and I'm told I'm the exception to the rule.

I'd be prepared for two weeks - and a week minimum to be safe!
