Does BCBS Federal approve Revision Surgery for Light Weights?
RNY on 12/27/17
Just wondering if anyone had approval with BCBS Federal for your revision.
Right now my BMI is 35. My BMI on my initial visit was 34.1. I'm wondering if I will get approved. I do have co-morbidities, Type II Diabetes, High Blood Pressure, High Cholesterol and Severe Acid Reflux. Please reply if you know.
My revision surgery will be from the VSG to RNY. Please don't comment any negative replies about my revision choice.
Thanks.

That sure was a quick response . I'm still waiting for the decision. Is your BCBS Federal?
You sure are doing well with the RNY.
Thanks for replying.
Please keep us posted on their decision. I have Federal BCBS as well and am very interested in the outcome. I had the lap band in July 2010 and only lost a total of 33 pounds in 8 months. I'm now want the RNY and had a revision consultation at Duke University Medical Center yesterday. My surgeon said that he feels that I will be approved for a revision given my medical condition (high blood pressure and acid reflux) but needless to say I'm very worried.
Hopefully, things will work out for both of us. Take care.

I am just waiting for approval of by federal bcbs for revision of lap band to sleeve
what issues did you have with the sleeve
i have been waiting for approval now for several weeks
i was told that it can take 30 days but it has been that ALREADY
i am also looking for a surgeon that will do surgery 2-3weeks apart rather than 6-8 weeks apart

I have been through a whole lot of stufff and I would go to food (white carbs) for comfort. So, I was not strong enough like so many others to just work with the sleeve (tool). I want to have the RNY for the malabsorption, which should help me a little bit more. I am getting over the emotional eating. I still want the RYN anway.

Yes, I called them they have not made a decision yet. I guess I'm worried about my BMI being 34.1. I believe the requirement is 35. So they might disapprove.
