Dont do another band.  Dont even waste your time.  I think you should go research Dr Roslin at Lennox Hill.  He is my revison doctor.  He does one surgery to revise unless you have bad damage from the band.

Hi, I hope you dont mind me asking you some questions.
I am going for a seminar at Lenox Hill on 8/9 for a revision.  How do you like it there.  How was the doctors and staff?  What types of revisions do they do?  Are you having a hard time getting approved? My ins company approves revisions as long as it is mediclly necessary and I meet the requirements.  Do you know if the BMI requirements are the same for a revision as they are for first timers?

Im sorry for so many questions,  I am excited, nervous anxious.  I guess that is how everyone going thru this feels.

Thanks
Gina

Slap the doctor that thinks you need another band. Really, just slap him.

You MAY need to have the band removed first, then have a second surgery, because those "non-invasive and reversible" bands often have caused damage, which will cause problems with the revising of the stomach. Sometimes, some issues can heal and repair a bit, making the revision surgery safer for you.

That said, I'd only see a surgeon that does ALL the other surgeries, or their advice will be limited to what they perform. I agree with the other poster about seeing Dr Roslin, if you are in NJ.

I had my band removed at the same time that my surgeon did my sleeve. My doc said it wasn't a big deal to do it, just adds another few minutes onto the procedure. I did have to have an EGD done before surgery though.

Definitely don't get another band!

My doctor wouldn't do it either... she wanted to take the band out and wait 6 months then put a new band in... Well I pay her wages so in essence I fired her and moved on.

Dr. Tersigni was happy to oblige and took the band out and revised me all in one shot.

Run from anyone who tries to put another band in you!
