Hi, there.  This is my first post to the forum.  My story is a little different from most.  I had an open extended distal RNY in 1997.  I now have ulcerative colitis, and am in real trouble because of nutritional malabsorption.  I'm at my lowest weight (97 lbs.).  At 4'11", that's a great weight to be, but my protein  and vitamin D levels are extremely low.  Iron is okay because of iron infusion therapy and bi-weekly B-12 injections.  My surgeon retired years ago, so I've been followed by my PCP, who doesn't know what to do with me.  I've been SO tired for SO long.  I've finally become proactive, and found a new surgeon who says I need a revision now.  He plans to do a standard RNY, and has put me on enzyme therapy until insurance approval (to be done by Aug. 1st).  I'm just thankful that someone is taking me seriously!

I guess my question is, has anyone else had a similar problem?  This may sound silly, but my biggest concern is weight loss.

Welcome to the board, so sorry for your colitis.  Glad you found another surgeon.  Have you tried posting on the main board with the words revision & colitis in the TOPIC line, bet someone there could help you!!!!
