Ruen-Y Failure
Are you wanting a revision to your RNY or are you exploring another type of revision? If you are, my suggestion is to please go to a surgeon who does all four (4) weight loss surgeries!!!!!
Good LUCK!!!!!

Hi Jamie,
I've been going to the top bariatric specialist in Augusta, GA. He told me he wont repair, revise, or do anything to ease my suffering. I started out at 257 and got down to 102. I kept the weight off until I became ill, and around the same time I stopped smoking. Now I'm back up to 215. I've gone from a size 4 back up to a size 20. I'm so depressed. I have requested having my records sent back to Florida where it all started. Hopefully someone in that clinic will accept me and repair my stomach. I'm not picky at this point what they do to me! LOL I've also been reading up on StomaphyX which is especially for those of us that have had gastric bypass and have gained some of their weight back. It's pretty cool. Daystay surgery, down the throat, and no more outside scars. One lady was back at work in two days. Same diet as when we started with the regular gastric bypass. Hopefully that Dr. will accept me, and I will be close to home and not have to move back to Florida. Thanks for answering my plea!
Darlene
I had revision surgery and will be six months out on the 8th, time flies when your having fun. Anyway the StomaphyX is not a good option and most everyone I have read about gains their weight right back once they are eating solid food. Do your research and make sure your are making an informed decision. I was revised to a DS. I started out at 455, with the RNY my losest weight was around 282 I have gotten down to 278 as of yesterday and lost a total of 73 pounds since my revision. My weightloss is slower than the first time but it is working and for me the DS was the way to go. I hope you are able to get your pouch taken care of and the throwing up to stop. I am sure you can find a doctor to take your case but you may have to travel to do it.
Good luck
Sophia

You NEED TO get a second opinion!!!!!!! I second what Sophia says about the StomaphyX as well.

Thanks again,

What kind of surgery did you have? From what I'm seeing the DS seems to be a good option. I guess I should ask the surgeon that looks down my throat the method that would be best for me. LOL If I have to go back to Florida to have this thing repaired, re-done, revised, etc. I'll do it. Has anyone had trouble getting Medicare to pay for a second surgery?
Darlene
Darlene,
"Since the staples popped I've been so miserable. I was told that the part of my stomach that was stapled off would die and I wouldn't have to worry about it anymore. Well, if the staples have popped and food is leaking into a dead stomach, I think I need to worry."
Yes, you need to worry!!!! I think that this is called a gastro-gastric FISTULA. Your insurance should pay for this "mechanical failure". If you are considering a DS, I would start your research here:
http://www.dsfacts.com/
Also...... there are VERY FEW docs who do the RNY to DS revision. There are docs, but there are FEW of them, who have the experience of doing the DS.
I think the best 2 pieces of advice that I have been given over the years are #1....... RESEARCH, RESEARCH, RESEARCH. and #2........... Go to a surgeon who does ALL 4 WLS!!!!!! That way you get accurate information, and the surgeon will not try and sway you into an ERNY.
Dr. Rabkin, Dr. Keshishian, both are located in California
(((((I had a face-to face consult with Dr. Keshishian March 2, 2011. I do have his cash pay fees:
These are just the Surgeons FEES Only!!!!
Open DS: $8650.00
Lap DS: $9525.00
Sleeve: $2000.00
REVISIONS:
Revision - Lap Band to DS: $8650.00
Revision - RNY, VBG, Fobi Pouch, or other unknow bariactric procedure to DS: $11,000.00
(I was told that the $4,000.00 program fee is included in this $11,000.00 fee)
On my paperwork, The hospital fee (I think it was for a 4 day stay) was $17,500.00)))))
Dr. Husted, located in Airazona
Dr. Elariny, located in Virginia
Dr. Roslin, located in New York
Dr. Buchwald, located in Minnesota
Dr. Greenbaum, located in New Jersey
Of course, the above doctors are in the United States
Dr. Gagner, located in Canada
Dr. Ungson, located in Mexico
Dr. Baltasar, located in Spain
Dr. Marchesini, located in Brazil.... His open RNY to DS is 23,000 Real, which is about $14,200.00 USD.

Do you know if any of these Doctors accept Medicare? I am willing to travel anywhere in the U.S. to have this done. From what I've seen, I really want the DS. I'm so tired of having the nausea, the pinching pain in my side, and if I do eat I look pregnant and that hurts, yet I'm still 215 pounds. I went from around 120 to 215 in about a year. You could almost see me expanding. I hope the Clinic in Florida where I had my surgery done originally will accept me. They are a teaching hospital and do everything. All I know is something needs to be done.
Darlene,
I had the gastric bypass (RNY) in 2002.
I would start calling the doctor's offices and ask them if they accept medicare. I personally do not see why they would not accept medicare. EPECIALLY since you have complications, and need them fixed sooner rather than LATER!!!!
