Just had my Revision
Great, so glad that you have gotten what you wanted and needed. Pericardial patch is heart tissue - right? I don't think any surgeon would risk taking heart tissue. Was it some sort of synthetic tissue used to patch up your stomach? First I have heard but it is probably common practice for revisions as our stomach tissue is no longer virgin.
Good luck hun.

medicare does cover revision. I just had mine. you have to jump through all the insurance requirements though . You need a 4 month history of diet and exercise and all the pre op test etc. Medicare doesn't Pre approve you have to get all your paperwork in order you get the surgery and then you submit and hope they pay. If they don't you just keep putting in appeals.. That is why they want all the necessary paperwork in order.
Hi Everyone!
I'm new to this site and the DB. I am scheduled for revision from VBG (also known as SRVG) to RNY on July 28, 2011. Although we had different procedures, we share a similar story. I weighed 299 lbs when I had VBG in 2/2002. I lost nearly 100 lbs in 10 months, and although I hadn't reached my goal of 170 lbs, I was over 30 and anxious to have my first child.
After only 10 months post-op, I got pregnant. I had trouble gaining weight during the pregnancy, and had to eat as much as my pouch would allow. Fortunately, I was able to lose all but 10 lbs of my baby weight. As soon as I stopped nursing my son, I got pregnant again! This time, I was able to eat like a "normal" person, and I had no trouble gaining weight. In fact, I stopped weighing myself during my last trimester, because I couldn't bear to see the numbers. I think I was around 266-270 lbs when I gave birth to my second son in the fall of 2005. That's the lowest weight I've been ever since.
After countless attempts at dieting and trying to do it on my own, I finally went through the process to qualify for revision and was immediately approved due to a fistula and reflux. I am excited about the chance to lose the weight for good this time, but I am concerned about the increased risk of complications, etc. I'd love to connect with someone who can share this journey with me and who'll understand what I'm going through. Best wishes to all of you here!
