Quick Insurance Approval?

I had VBG 15 years ago and I never got to my goal weight,  For the last 3-4 years I have been plagued with GERD to the point that I have to sleep in a recliner because I choke when I lay down.  I plan to have a RNY as soon as insurance approval comes through.  I had an EGD done a few days ago and my stomach opening is almost closed.

BCBS requires that I have 3-6 months of doctor supervised WL diet and exercise plan before I can have the surgery.  My question, has anyone ever got that requirement waived because of unlaying health issues?  If so, what did you or your doctor do?

I have BCBS of NJ and it took about a week to get the approval.  I did not have to do any of that extra crap again.  All they wanted to see is that I was compliant with the band requirements...dr  and nut appts.

Thanks for your reply.  I have an appointment with my Dr. next and I am going to ask him about it and see if they will at least try it.
