I'm planning a revision. I would like anyone to chime in with their experiences from the RNY & DS.

If anyone has any pros and cons to list for me, that would be great as well.

Thanks everyone !!

Thanks for this post!! I am meeting with my surgeon Thursday to discuss revision from band->?? I want no regrets this time.. I have been banded for 3 years as of last week. My Dr. has suggested VSG in the past but I think I need more aggressive. I am HUNGRY HUNGRY HUNGRY. VSG sounds appealing due to the part of the stomach that remains and the stop of grehlin production, but I think I need the malabsorptive route as well... I have been researching RNY vs DS and want to have my ducks in a row when I see the Dr. this week. The biggest concern I have is that there doesn't seem to be a DS surgeon in New England... Best of luck to you! It will be interesting to see any responses to this post:)

Thanks, good luck to you as well
I've thought about vsg, but I know I need malabsorption. I have to travel 4 &1/2 hours to see a DS surgeon. My surgeon here at home doesn't do the DS.
I would suggest to visit the DS, VSG and RNY forums. Read posts there and ask questions. So many people are willing to help here and they do so good at helping and answering questions.
I've learned so much here!!!
Good luck again, keep us all updated

I am having a revision from lap band to DS on Tues Mar 29th in San Francisco with Dr. John Rapkin.  He is awesome and extremely experienced in revisions which requires a skilled surgeon. I've done lots of research and Dr Rapkin has an excellant trac record

good luck
Cindy

You are welcome to look into my profile.  I am working towards a revision from RNY to DS in California.

Have you tried http://www.dsfacts.com/?  Great info on there as well.

I revised from the RNY to the DS.

For me, it was a way to finally become healthy. The malabsorption lasts with a DS, I can follow a low-carb diet, and I no longer have the reactive hypoglycemia, dumping and constant vomiting I had with the RNY.

Many people seek revisions from RNY to something else. There are pages and pages of posts on here from people who weren't satisfied with their RNY. You rarely hear about a revision from a DS.
