Band out...now I wait
I am having two surgeries because 1)that's just how my Dr. does it and 2) based on my research, it is safer to have it in two because of scar tissue and healing. I just wanted to make sure that my stomach was "back to normal" before having the sleeve. I just don't want any complications. I know 2 surgeries can be risky, but the Dr. believes it is safer this way.

Jenn, can you point me to your info that says that 2 surgeries are safer. Though I know I did the right thing in not getting a plication during my Band removal, I keep beating myself up for NOT opting for the VSG in the first place and getting it done right then.
My doc does removal and revision in one shot. To me that makes sense unless you have an erosion or something wrong with your stomach. Everytime those tools go in you, they create more scar tissue, more scars period. That is what I worry about in my mind.

Leila

that does make sense.... I haven't gotten my approval yet but WHEN I do I think I will request two surgeries. It just seem safer to me.
I'm so happy that you are on your way.... I am so excited about the thought of getting this thing out of me!! I look forward to reading your post in the future.

Oh no, don't request 2 surgeries. If you need 2 surgeries because your stomach needs to heal that is one thing. I made a huge mistake in not getting mine done in "one shot". I had a dilation which qualified me for a revision. Now I do not qualify - I'd have to gain more weight and I feel huge already. Go on the VSG forum, people are doing well having their band removed and revised to a sleeve at the same time.
All the best to you,
