Good luck hope you get an appoval soon..I am considering revision..I have appt Feb 24 with my surgeon..I had RNY and due to injuries and surgeries and depression and of course overeating..I have gained 40 pounds..I was in beginning..240 lost 100 lbs in less than a year..was doing well until my hip started hurting and had to slow down on moving started gaining..had hip replacement a few months ago..and hip and knees are killing me due to weight gain..so I am looking to revision..I just am so confused as to which one to do and hope my dr will suggest the best one..why did you decide on DS..just curious..I was looking at the rose but no one has anything good to say about it..say no weight loss..I am still looking and searching for the best info on which one to do..I wish you the best and I feel your pain..I don't want to be fat anymore..I loved when I was skinny..take care and God Bless..

I was "on the fence" for years, and then, I went to my PCP, and started a supervised weight loss diet, with phentermine pills.  I started researching here, on OH, and found a TON of links.... but, this one was THE CLINCHER for me:

http://www.dssurgery.com/about/publications/duodenal-switch- safe-operation.pdf

I will be 9 years out from my RNY in a little over 2 weeks.  I had reached my goal by May of 2003, and by May of of 2004 ( a year later) I had re-gained 80 pounds.  And, here I sit, nearly 7 years later with that 80 pound re-gain.

Good LUCK to you!!!!

Patti-

Unfortunately, with so few.... you are probably going to have to travel.  Hey, I traveled from Alaska for my RNY nearly 9 years ago, even though there was a new surgeon up here doing them.  I wanted more experience!!!!

Since there are so few in the united states to choose from...... Greenbaum would be your closest.  I would post this on the DS board as well, just for the input & support.  I think they say it better than me, traveling is such a small 'price' to pay for a MUCH BETTER life, and such an insigifigant amount of time, compared to your WHOLE life!!!!

Good Luck!!!!!
