Please consider what diana has said about the DS. Unfortunately the surgeon you are going to is not advising you on the DS because he can't perform it. Please do not have the ERNY.

What's ERNY? I have to have my gallbladder removed and am considering a revision at the same time. trying to gather info.............

I too would like to know what ERNY is. I had RNY five years ago, lost all the excess weight, then gained almost all of it back. I did have medical trouble aside from my surgery, involving long-term steroid use and what it did to my body, but I feel like the RNY isn't doing it for me anymore.

I too am scared of having another surgery (I'm seriously considering DS). I mean, surgery is surgery! Bad things can happen!!

I haven't actually ran across anyone on here who has done it but from what I gather a ERNY is extended rny ( the physician bypasses more intestine). This should inuce greater weightloss but I am wondering for how long. I had a CT of my abdomen w/ contrast a few days ago while trying to figure out my pain so my next question to my surgeon will be how much was actually bypassed.

Goodluck on your journey. I have looked at the DS but I still can't quite wrap my head around it and due to the fact that I am just "fat" and "at risk" for alot of stuff and I really don't have any major health problems............. the DS seems a bit extensive to me. Maybe in a few years if I'm not successful with other measures, but I feel if I do it now that I would be making a brash decision.
