Hello all,the Virgin Islands were fabulous...just the greak I needed. Since retuning I have had a revision to a Roux en Y.............Unfortunately the vomiting continues. I am trying Motilium QID prescribed by my surgeon.....3 weeks later no change. I am booked for a scope Apr 29th.....if no strictures then possible oesophageal surgery that is technically difficult and risky.
Once I have more info I will post it.  On the plus side I have gone down from size 26-14....my blood sugars are normal and my blood pressure is perfect without meds...

In 2000, I had an RNY. He left the pouch too big and I also developed a 'new' stomach. In 2001, I had an RNY revision. He corrected the problems and I did like a good RNYer does and ate right, exercised and I was fine. For about 4 years.

The weight came back. Even after the revision. My doctor never mentioned anything about 'cancer' from a blind stomach. I was about 50+lbs away from my original weight. Then I began to lose again after a 'bout with my gallbladder. Then gain again, til I settled at around 285. My lowest weight had been around 230.

In 2008, I had ANOTHER revision. This time to a DS. That's THREE WLS. I'm sure no one wants to go this route. I originally had the RNY because I wanted to get rid of diabetes and I was SMO. The RNY didn't solve the problem. The weight came back and so did the diabetes, or rather I was borderline AGAIN.

Please, do your research. I trusted my 'original' surgeon. It was he who suggested the DS, even though he didn't perform it himself. Which shows, to me, that he had my best interests at heart. I'm not saying your surgeon doesn't. It's just that you have to be pro-active about your health. It's not good to just follow what your doctor or any doctor says, without educating yourself on the basics and the options.

Just a thought. Suggest the DS to him, see what he says. It doesn't hurt to ask. Do your research. Is this a lifestyle you can follow? It's not for everyone, but it works. I've had my difficulties with the DS, mainly getting the eating thing down pat, but otherwise, I'm fine. I'm not at goal weight, but I've had 3 surgeries. It makes it harder, but I know if I do right by the DS, it will do right by me.

Either way, in the end. It's your decision. Good luck.

1- I am NOT having my complete"blind" stomach removed
2- he said that it CAN Develop cancer not that its a gurantee that it will
3- he is not my original surgeon- he is a specialist in RNY to DS, RNY to RNY surgeries-
4-the frist surgeon pretty much screwed me, so he is going to repair the work that was done by her in Chicago
5-
You know, I cam looking for support- I had done my research on this..I couldnt exactly explain what he was  going to do, but he mentioned " sleeve" during our consultation, explained to me through a diagram what had happened with my original surgery, and what he is going to do to make sure that I live a longer, healthier life....
I tried to be nice and explain to some of you that maybe I had the information wrong- excuse me for being excited about my upcoming revision and just wanting to re-aquaint myself with OBH and get support other than from my husband.....

IF you dont have anything to say nice, please dont say anything at all..Im pretty sure that I didnt come off a mean ***** or anything like that...and if I did, Im sorry

If you want a friend, show yourself friendly!!

I'm NOT trying to be mean, or unsupportive, or anything like that---I'm saying this because I care what happens to you.

Your surgeon is NOT a "specialist" in doing RNY-to-DS revisions. He doesn't even offer the DS as a 'virgin' procedure. I'm willing to bet you money that he will NOT return your pylorus and leave youo with a fully-functional stomach. These surgeons will:

Dr. Rabkin, Dr. Keshishian, Dr. Elariny, Dr. Greenbaum, Dr. Husted.

These are the ONLY surgeons in the US who actually do a real, honest-to-God, functional-stomach RNY-to-DS revision.
