I totally hate that I am STILL dealing with this weight problem and going for another surgery. So depressing!

My pouch has been a problem since 1997.  Hope the new surgeon fixes that at least.

Details on limb lengths and other changes are my blog if anyone wants them.   Keep fighting the fight everyone.

Good luck on your revision tomorrow.
Why aren't they giving you a sleeve?  Did your old surgeon remove it?

My original surgeon removed the bottom half of my pouch with a horizontal cut.  He took out the pyloric valve and duodenum too.  My current surgeon sleeved my current pouch with a vertical cut.

Some poeple say that you don't have a 'real' sleeve if you don't have a pyloric valve.  Instead of a pyloric valve, I have a stoma.  I don't have a full length of pouch that sleevers have, but    the pouch I do have was sleeved by removing the greater curv. ature on the right side.  That's the stretchy side

Hi Karen.  Today I am 7 days post op.  I am drinking only protein drinks, but am allowed pureed food.  The protein drinks take 1-2 hrs to get down.  I am happy about that, and like to think it means I will still have restriction after the swelling goes down.  My biggest complaint all along was that my pouch was huge.  Sure enough this surgeon confirmed that my pouch was more than half of a full size stomach.

I developed an angry rash on my belly and most of my back.  It seemed to be an allergic reaction, and I suspected whey, so yesterday I switched to soy.  the rash is no longer raised or spreading - hopefully the rash will go away.

I was in the hospital 4 days and released at the end of the 4th day.  This hospital was wonderful - always willing to unhook me for bathroom visits and walks.  I had my pain pump until 1 hr before discharge. So I pretty much had no pain the whole time - the hospital was excellent on pain management. They are a Center of Excellence.  I had my first two meals on the 4th day, the day I left.

I was stapled closed with mini staples and will have them removed next wednesday.  All other tubes were removed in the hospital.

I have a question in case anyone is reading and has an answer  - I read that someone pureed eggs.  How does one puree eggs and thin them out?  Blender and then mayo for more moistness?

Im happy I'm missing holiday celebrations at work.  I'm still home on sick leave and would hate to be in the office with that going on. This is a great time to be out of work.  OtoH, I have to have holiday meals with family next week & don't look forward to it because I didn't tell them I was having this surgery.  My mom is 84 & I didn't want to tell her.  So I will be letting them know at dinner conversations - LOL .  Wish me luck.
