I am scheduled to have a revision from VBG to RNY next Wednesday. I am wondering how long I should plan on taking off of work. I have a low stress, sit down job.

Any help is appreciated!

Is your surgery open or lap?  That makes a difference in healing time!!!  I had mine open in 2002 & I took off 4 weeks, I worked in a pharmacy, so no heavy lifting, and 2 of my 4 days were weekends, so I could sit more.  You will be very tired, physically, because of surgery & healing.

Hope that helps!!!

I just had an RNY---> RNY revision due to ulcer formation at the anastomosis and can not believe what a toll this is taking on me.  I don't remember the first one being so painful the first time around.  Take at LEAST 2-3 weeks off.  You'll definitely need every moment of it.

I took a week off for my original surgery, but I had it at the end of a week so I got the bonus of the weekend. Honestly, if I had to choose time off over again, I would take more than a week. I'd take all my leave! Mine was lap and pretty painful for a few weeks. Walking helped with the gas pains and some of the general pain, but was still pretty sore just taking care of myself. Good luck!

I just had an open revision from VBG to RNY and took 6 weeks off. I have good disability benefits. If I didn't, I probably would have been ok going back around 4 weeks but wouldn't have felt as good as I did at 6.

Good luck!!
