Here's my A.W. story.  Banded 08/21/06 @ 320 lbs.  By 08/21/08 I was 205 lbs.  But by 08/21/10 I was back to 265 lbs., now check in around 275 lbs.

I can't seem to get the weight back off.  So I started thinking.....should I get a revision to another surgery?

Tell me your opinions.  Thanks!

From my surgeon:  Lap Band or RNY.  He hasn't done anything else, will do whatever, but I'd be his first.  Kinda risky.  Thanks though.

Any surgeon who gives someone with a high BMI a lap band is committing malpractice. Find another surgeon!

At the time of my original surgery, my BMI was only 44.6.

my pre op lap band bmi was 61, went down to bmi of 19 with the band in about 14 months. i had no issues for 7 years,  i had it for 8 years.  i was proctored by an australian surgeon.  unfortunelty long term complications caused me to lose the band.  there are a lot of misconceptions for all of the wls: bands, sleeve, rny, imbrication, bpd/ds.  it is a very difficult choice to make to decide what to revise to and can be quite overwhelming.  if you have lap band complications (esophogeal damages) a rebanding is not recommended via peer reviewed journals.  if your esophagus is healthy you have 3 restrictive procedures to pick from : sleeve, rny and imbrication.  if you want to add malabsorption it is bpd/ds.  eitherway post lap band revision requires someoen who is familiar with pre lap band patients.  it will be a difficult choice to make

It's revision time.  Bands do not work and they especially do not work for higher BMI folks.  Consider DS?

The band got me to goal, the sleeve will keep me there.
