BOB and having success

If you don't have a sleeve, you have a pouch similar to the RNY, only it was left bigger and the rest of your stomach was taken out.     With the RNY, the pouch is made (only smaller) and the stomach is left IN, only it's just floating there providing digestive juices - no food goes through it.

The RNY is "technically" considered reversible because the stomach remnant is left in you.   The old BPD-DS is not reversible because the rest of the stomach is removed.   That's why the BPD-DS was considered such a "radical" procedure (and some doctors are using THAT surgery's reputation to turn patients away from the modern DS).  There were a lot of problems with the surgery you got.   In fact, there is a board on Yahoo groups called something like "Post DS problems" and quite a few people on that board have the old surgery.  You are not alone.

If you send a PM to Joyce  www.obesityhelp.com/member/jrinaz/ (who posts here quite regularly), she can probably send you a link to that board.   She's very helpful and is a great resource to know..    She used to have similar problems after her revision to ERNY.   She has since been revised to the modern DS and is thriving.

The surgeon who placed your band should also be able to tell you what surgery you had back then. Call him and ask - (and even better, ask for a copy of the records he made after your revision). It`s really, REALLY important that you understand what has been done to your stomach and intestines. Alone in case of a medical emergency! Learn about how the anatomy is changed during the sleeve, DS, RNY and the old BDP procedure and compare it with what your revision doc tells you about your insides.

It`s not really this hard with all the information you can find via google (and on this side) to find out what a sleeve and a pouch is.
