As some of you know, I am scheduled for my RNY to DS revision on Aug 6th.  Some of my friends outside of the WLS community and some within have questioned my decision in mostly supportive ways.  For the most part I have just chalked up their problem with my decision to lack of knowledge but and article just sent to me by a nurse friend got my attetion and I just wanted to see what your fhttps://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1856611/eedback on it is.......I won't post the entire article here, but here is the link for you to read: My major concern is the last paragraph of their findings:

Not a revision patient here. All I can tell you is that there are a LOT of studies that give the 'average' EWL at 5 years post-RNY as 65-70%, compared with 78% at TEN years for the DS.

 Hello,
The study that you have quoted talks about the the gastric bypass- long and short limb. The issue has been that the long limb was being done long time ago and then most surgeons stopped doing it because of high complication (mostly nutritional) rates. There has been a resurgence of this operation, since a relatively large % of gastric bypass patients will need revision done. Conversion to Long limb is an easy operation.

There was a very similar set of data that was presented in Las Vegas national meeting a few weeks ago, and essentially echoed the same information that the length of the gastric bypass does not affect the long term weight regain only increases the nutritional complication rate.

Hope this helps.

Dr. K!!!

Glad to see you posting on here again!!!

I look foward to meeting you, and having you do my revision from RNY to DS!!!  Just working on the last of my re-testing... the nutritional consult (I had Diana through your Glendale office do my one last July) & psych evaluation... they are over a year old, so I need to have them re-done.

One day, I will be speaking with you & Diana in your Glendale office face-to-face (I am hoping soon--like before the end of this year!!!)

Take care!!!
