Hi Everyone, looking for some guidance here...........had a RNY in 2000, revision with Lapband in 2005, now looking to revise to DS. (needless to say that didn't work) Went thru the basics prior to insurance approval with a surgeon who is now not available, and looking for anyone who has had this done, and any suggestions on surgeons.  I live in Florida, but willing to travel as I haven't seen one here~ any input appreciated!!

You look awfully familiar. :)

My suggestions for revision to DS would be Greenbaum in NJ, Rabkin or Keshishian in CA. I would say Husted also, but I don't know where he is at the moment.

Those are the big names. You might find a complete list of revision specialists at dsfacts.com.

Hopefully someone else will chime in here.

http://www.dsfacts.com/North-American-Duodenal-Switch-Surgeo ns.html I haven't had ds yet but I'm going with Dr Kasheshian here in CA. The names I always hear thrown out there are Dr Rabkin, Dr. Husted, Dr. Kasheshian, Dr Greenbaum. There are more but I can't recall at the moment. Make sure you do research and maybe post this on the ds forum so you make sure to find a skilled surgeon who does revisions.

Good luck to you!

I've had a lot of surgeries as well and Dr. K. was willing to take me on. I've had about 30 surgeries in my life and so many of them were on my abdomen that I no longer have a belly button because they kept going in and closing back up. Make sure you research the surgeon and make sure he has done many rny to ds revisions successfully. I think traveling is worth it if it will save your life. Make sure you go over to the ds board and ask them about surgeons.

Will do Monique.........I appreciate your input and you are right.  Distance shouldnt be a factor in the long run, but i guess i am hoping to find one as close as possible, maybe that has been overlooked?! Well i can hope, lol!  Dr K sounds wonderful, but hubby refuses to go to California.  I dont know where Dr Husted is headed, but fear it may be out west also.....Dr Greenbaum in the east has been highly recommended, as has Dr Stewart in northern Texas...... anybody have any input on them?  Or any others?  Will definitely keep Dr K in mind tho, and will check out the DS forum also.......thanks!!

You are wise to also post this over on the DS forum.... lots of revisions there, from RNY to DS, from Lap Band to DS, fro, Rny, to ERNY, and then to DS.....
Lots of good info on that board!!!!

This (revisions board) tends to be a slower board, and GOOD FOR YOU for stating distance should not be a factor in your health.
I have lived in Alaska since I was 4 (about 35 years).  I have not had any bariactric surgery here.  I traveled to Washington, twice, a year apart, once for my RNY, and then a year later for the same surgeon... TT, hernia repair & gallbladder removal.  I DID NOT EVEN THINK TWICE about traveling.

I also think Dr. John Husted has settled in Kentucky.  I do know that he does do RNY to DS revisions.... but, if you are looking into him.... check on the stomach part, last I read, he left the "pouch" on a RNY to DS revision patient, and did not do the take-down of the pouch, and do the sleeve.

Thanks Jamie.....Dr Husted is leaving Kentucky for parts unknown as of yet.......he hasn't announced where yet, but I believe it will be in the western part of the US.  And, I can't wait for him to get a team together that I would feel comfortable with, if that makes any sense....I dont believe I am supposed to cross post on both boards, so will head over to the DS board since it is more active.......didnt realize there were so many revisions i guess.  Makes me feel a little better about all my "misses" ...........

I've read a few postings that said Husted is going to Arizona.
