Three months post revision down 31 lbs but totally depressed

We revision people lose more slowly, that's a fact. Don't forget, our bodies are sick and tired of dieting. I have lost 30 lbs at 7 weeks out (and 6 of those were from the 10 days of a liquid diet prior to surgery).

I have to ask, are you still shrinking? Your body is probably replacing the fat with extra water storage. Even though I had the stall from hell from Jan. 8 to Feb. 8 I noticed my scale would say that my body fat percentage was shrinking. Even so, my scale was hanging onto the 196 range. I would weigh in some nights at 199, mornings at 196, and then all of a sudden, this week, I started losing again.

Hang in there! Double check with your doc, but I'm pretty sure you should be able to lose the 60 in your honeymoon window.  I need to lose another 40 to be where I want to be, 55 to be close to my first ever "normal" weight. I'm going to remain positive on that.   Hell, I was hoping to get down there by June because it's my 25th wedding anniversary, but if it doesn't happen it's ok - I know he loves me anyway, lol.

Hugs to you!

Thanks to everyone that posted.

1)I have sought out a cognitive behavioral therapist who is an eating disorders specialist that is covered by my insurance (I have never used my benefits before and I have 50 sessions a year!)

2)I have lost another pound and I am meeting with a bariatric personal trainer tomorrow so that should kick up my metabolism in addition to the twice weekly ice skating and mini-trampoline workouts I am doing.

3)However, I tried anti-depressants when I was in my 20's and they are not for me. This was not a judgment of those who use them, just NOT FOR ME.

4)I chose the RNY revision because my insurance paid for 100% of it INCLUDING ALL HOSPITAL FEES. It wasn't unsuccessful, I lost 175 pounds but then after a painful breakup 3 years ago I started going back to bad habits to numb the pain, had a foot injury and gained 30 pounds back. That was when I went in for the revision.

5) I am happy for those who chose the duodenal switch but I know two women in my workplace who had it who almost died, became jaundiced, lost almost all of their hair AND THEY HAVE GAINED WEIGHT BACK. Every surgery can have complications and I didn't post here to get advice on what other surgery to have. I don't want to have another surgery for the rest of my life, if I can help it. So, that was not an option for me and my surgeon felt that a RNY "tune-up" was better for me in the long run.

I thank all of you with good advice about the slow nature of weight loss. My internist said 1 pound a week for revision patients after the initial 30 day drop. That makes me happy as I am stepping up my exercise, going to see a therapist, eating delicious food (who says it has to taste boring?) and maintaining the course. I have 59 pounds to go and 15 more months of the honeymoon window to do it in. I finally feel like I can succeed and that feels great.

Thanks for all of your support. I will continue to need it and best of luck to all of you as well.
