Hello,

So I am completly confused about that type of Revision Surgery I should get. The 1st consult I had re my revision was a complete shock with the (very well known) Dr. came in and said" Well you dont need surgery, Your pouch is perfectly small and tight and I am adament that you dont need this"

EVENTOUGHT I HAVE GAINED ALL MY WEIGHT BACK!! Yep EVERY SINGLE LBS!! (110lbs lost in 2005)

So can you share with me your Revision Surgery success stories? What worked best for you? And who are the best Surgeon's in the Seattle-Ballard-NGT-Burien-FedWay- Auburn-Puyallup-Tacoma areas?

Also anyone wable to lose the weight or some of it w/out revisions?

Thanks again everyone who poss it really means alot!!

Unfortunately, if you go to a surgeon and ask them what type of revision would be best, they will only recommend the surgery they are capable of performing. I am biased, but have read what medical studies there are to date, and wouldn't bother with Stomaphyx, Rose, band over bypass, or ERNY.

You could likely find a surgeon to do ERNY in WA, but it combines the worst of RNY and DS, and the results just seem too varied. IMHO the DS is the only revision I'd consider, and there are no surgeons in WA capable of performing the DS revision. At any rate, you should get a consult with a surgeon that is actually capable of performing everything, and can give you some unbiased advice. Sorry it can't happen in Washington.

Hi, I'm in the same boat. Had Gastric Bypass in 2005 and now I have gained all the weight back. Doc said my pouch was ok after having an endoscopy about 1.5 years ago. Last time she suggested band over bypass but I've researched it and I do not want a band.
Have an appointment on Wednesday and will ask about DS.
Thanks for the info provided here.

Lauren,

I had gastric bypass / RNY back in 1980, lost the excess weight then had to fight like a mad man to keep it off; dieting and exercising pretty much every day for 15 years before I lost it. I got sick and couldn't exercise and that's what did me in ended up gaining all the weight back.

When I looked into what kind of a revision to get, the DS was the only think I found that seemed to have any chance of real success long term. Besides that, I was sick to death of all the pouch problems; I hated the dumping and food sticking and I really wanted to be able to eat like normal thin people do.

Finding a surgeon who could revise me was difficult as there are only a few who have the skills to do it. I ended up traveling 650 miles to San Francisco to get it done with Dr. Rabkin. It was a difficult surgery which ended up being two surgeries, but he got it done right and once I recovered; life has just gotten better and better. It's like a dream come true; I'm eating like a naturally think person does, I've lost all the excess weight (my body fat % is now 22%) and I feel like I'm 30.

Your surgeon isn't going to be any help with the DS, he doesn't do it and he is not going to recommend a surgery he can't do. However you have one of the best DS surgeons in the country next door in NJ. Give Dr. Greenbaum a call and consult with him; here's his contact info:

There really isn't anything else out there even close to the DS to help you lose weight and have a quality of life and eating. I love it, I just wish I had done the revision 10 years sooner. Here's a link to a post I made at my 1 year out date:

Love, love, love my DS.
