Seeking Help from Doctors or Peers

I had a revision from Lapband to the Sleeve on Sept. 30th.  I am in desperate need of help and have not been able to find any with my current doctors.  Maybe it is my lack of patience, but I am in desperate need.  (I revised due to severly dialated esophagus & large hiatal hernia not because of a lack of weigh loss success)
Since my surgery I have had severe diarrhea!  This is the result everytime I eat and no matter what I eat.  It usually also involves stomach pain and cramping.  I have been thru a colonoscopy and other tests and the doctors have given me no answers.
Each doctor seems to blame it on something else and nobody seems to talk to each other and figure out that nobody is in agreement on what the problem is and finding a solution.
I have lost a great deal of weight and if it continues will be below a safe weight in the next month or so!
If I can explain it as feeling wiped out after a severe case of the flu causing diarrhea, this is how I feel all the time.  Well that is unless I don't eat!  Sometimes I do have to go without food when work has been crazy or now because I am in a new job search!
I have seen my surgeon, a GI specialist, my Primary care doctor I have also consulted my Blood specialist.  All with no answers or solutions.......
I know this is not normal with the Sleeve but someone out there has to be able to help.  I have started emailing every doctor I can find on the internet that does the sleeve.
I guess I blame it on my sleeve because it started 2 days after my sleeve surgery and has only gotten worse!
Please if any of you can help I am soooooo desperate!!  If you can ask your doctors when you visit for an appointment...I would be in your debt!!
Thanks for listening and your help in advance......
I would rather be back to my 393lbs than be suffering like I do every day

Any chance you had antibiotics before the diarrhea started? It kills the bacteria in the intestines (good as well as bad) and then can get unbalanced when it repopulates. Many swear by probiotics to give the good guys a head start.

If things are already out of whack, you may need a round of antibiotics first, followed by probiotics. There is a chance you have something called C-diff, which causes gastric distress as well, but is also resolved with antibiotics.

DSers do a lot of talking about poop, so these might be things causing it:

1. Lactose intolerance. Cut out all dairy products (including protein shakes made from whey) for a week and see if anything improves. Even if you've never been intolerant before you can develop it after surgery

2. Gluten intolerance, similar to above. Cut out wheat, oats, barley and everything made from them for a week. I also had problems early on with things from the nightshade family - potatoes and tomatoes. Acid  I think

3. Watch for sugar alcohols - anything ending in 'ol' like sorbitol, mannitol etc. These are common (I have to watch for them in Vitamin C pills) and a nightmare even in small quantities

4. Get tested for C-Diff infection. Some DSers take preventative doses of antibiotic for this.

5. If no infection, take probiotics of at least 5million active bugs.

6. Keep drinking plenty and keep a watch for dehydration

7. Check what vitamins you're taking - iron and high dose of vitamin C can cause pain.

If none of these works then come over to the DS Board (we don't bite and sleevies are treated as DSers in waiting) because I might of forgotten something that could help you.

Sal,
Thanks for all the advice, unfortuantely I have been thru the entire list!!  I am on an all meat and cheese diet and have been since last wednesday....and sadly enough I am stting on the toilet writing to you right now wanting to just die!!
I am hating life alot the last few weeks it is getting hard to tolerate all of this.  I am on 3 months and 2 weeks of being non stop sick!
I just wish I would have left well enough alone and tried to keep the weight off by myself!  Especially because this is not reversible and that is what is the most scary for me.  I can say at the rate I am going I am going to be in the low 130's soon...and I am 5'11
Maybe once I am a skeleton the docs will take me serious.....thanks for your help and I will visit the DS board soon.....I am exhausted and need to get some rest tonight...
Take Care and thanks

I hope you're off the toilet by now...

Come to DS board anyway, unless theres a eRNY one that might help with losing too much weight. I know some of the vets have had to talk to revision surgeons with more experience than their own to get anyone to pay attention. There are things like digestive enzymes you could be taking to at least slow down you losing weight while you sort out the DH
