Good morning all my gorgeous and handsome Obesity Help Family.

I hope everyone so far is having an absolutely fabulous morning.

I am in such amazingly higher spirits than I am normally.

I am guessing that it has something to do with finally getting my surgery date yesterday and now having a time line to go by in order to set my goals and plan my revision journey.

Before I received the date I had goals, but no date to base them off of.

Now I feel more grounded and motivated.

I will say that I never thought I would be so happy to start a liquid diet than I am today.

LMAO.

See my diet below:

Pre-op Liquid Diet

This diet is designed to shrink your liver prior to surgery to reduce complications.

Stay on the following liquid diet for __ 2  __ weeks prior to your surgery date.

Total Amount Per Day:

1.    3-4    cups protein drink

2. At least 3 cups calorie-free, non-carbonated fluids. (You may have as much as you like.)

Acceptable Protein Drinks (3-4 cups per day)

  • Bariatric Advantage
  • Boost Glucose Control*
  • Nectar*
  • Slim Fast High Protein Low Carb
  • EAS Myoplex Low Carb Lite
  • Muscle Milk Lite
  • Carb Solutions
  • Atkins Shake
  • Pure Protein

* Lactose Free Formulas. Use lactose free products if you are lactose intolerant.

Your protein drink should be very low-fat or fat-free and “diabetic friendly/ no or reduced sugar." Choose ones that have at least 15 grams of protein per serving and you will stay satisfied longer.

Acceptable Calorie-Free Liquids (at least 3 cups per day)

  • Water
  • Crystal Lite, Fruit2O, AquaCal
  • Sugar Free Country Time Lemonade
  • Broth: chicken, beef, vegetable
  • Sugar Free Kool-Aid
  • Coffee, Tea:  use sugar substitute or nothing at all, to your taste
  • Sugar-Free Popsicles AND Sugar-Free Jell-O

I am also excited because I am going to the Obesity Help Convention this evening for the meet and greet.

I am hella excited to see everyone, but at the same time I am hella scared as I have gained a lot of weight and do not want to hear all the comments from people about it.

I don't give a damn about how they view me, but I was a poster child for WLS for so many years and I know how some people can be.

Even though I am now on the path to get my gastro gastric fistula repaired and get my revision done I still feel bad within myself because of the whole situation.

I was skinny for years.

I rocked size 6-8 jeans for years and had head to toe reconstructive surgery and then this gastro gastric fistula happened and threw me on my ass by the weight gain.

I can now say this, but in the beginning it did not matter.....

Thank God it was only 80 lbs and not the 150, but still.

You feel me?

In my book though 80 lbs is just like 150 because I was so successful in my WLS journey for years.

Even though my tool let me down due to mechanical failure... I felt like I let myself down.

I am hella over that feeling now, but it was what it was at the time.

I felt it.

Dealt with it.

Moved on from it.

I have never been one to give a damn about what others think of me.

Me being that way has a lot to do with how I chose to live my life and deal with my past.

I come from a history of domestic violence, sexual abuse, drug addiction, and just utter freaking chaos.

I rised above it all and fought tooth and nail to have a good life and recover.

I DID IT...

NO ONE DID IT FOR ME.

It is for that reason I am who I am and make no qualms or apologies for it.

I am not worried about anyone else's perception about me (never have been), but what I am worried about is my perception of myself when I am around others who have had WLS and have had no mechanical failure and are still rocking their WLS.

That is major.

I have decided to suck up all of my feelings about my weight gain and the fact that I am not skinny anymore and just go and have a good time.

Massive progress being made in my book,

I hope you all have an absolutely fabulous day.

Be kind to yourselves and one another.

Hugs and kisses.

By the way... I am hella loving my sugar free jello vanilla pudding right now..

LMAO!

Maryjo,

I am doing good with it.

Yesterday at the OH Conference I did eat a lil bit of lunch meat and cheese, but I was so light headed and dizzy ater drinking water and protein shakes only I needed something in my system besides what was on my list.

Yesterday I learned that while on this liquid pre op diet I need to not be so busy as I do not have enough energy so I need to take it easy.

As soon as I got home though I got back on track.

I hope you have an absolutely fabulous weekend as well.

Hey Teena,

Just wanted to tell you don't beat yourself up over a little food here and there. You are a mover and need the nutrition! IF you eat, just make sure it is sugar free and LOW fat, as I am sure you know this diet is to shrink the liver to give the surgeon more room to work.

You got it down I know, just don't want you to get discouraged!
