revision insurance coverage question

I may need to get a revision and I was wondering about something.  If my bmi is below 40 (the cutoff for my insurance) will the revision not be covered or is it under different rules?  I'm at 43 and should be at 40 within 2 months or so and I wonder what effect that would have on insurance etc.

Thanks

Depends on medical necessity and/or co-morbidities and insurance company as well.   Good luck

It depends on several factors.  Some ins co's require a 5 year history of a BMI of 40 or greater.  Some require 35 with specific comorbidities.

What ins type do you have?

I would contact your insurance company and ask about revision requirements. Often times, with good documentation from your surgeon, if medically necessary they will approve. Otherwise, there should be a way for you to dispute or challenge their denial. If you can find out the requirements for this process on the front end you will know how to proceed either way...I hope this helps!
