funding options for revision

I had lap-band surgery three years ago. I'm 5'7" and when I was banded I weighed 274.  I now weigh 225 so that's about 50 pounds in three years. NOT what I was hoping for even though I did get pregnant 4 months out, the weight loss and restriction has never been the same since I had my baby. I had an EGD and the doc said I had severe reflux and gastritis/esophagitis from it.  My insurance has changed and I now have NO wls coverage of any kind. I need to know from all of you self-payers how you got the funds to pay for your revision? I want a RNY and my doc wants the money up front before he will do the surgery. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I understand you are looking at the RNY revision surgery... but, you can post the question of **"Self-Pay revision surgery PLEASE"** on the DS board as well.  I only suggest this, beacuse, there are MANY, MANY knowledgeable people who could give you links to websites, and tips how to self-pay for revision surgery.


(I personally am revising from an RNY to DS... this is my personal decision, and I respect your personal decision.......... but, I would like to tell you to RESEARCH, RESEARCH, RESEARCH)

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I have posted this to the main board but I refuse to post it to the lap-band board. I'm kinda over the gung-ho attitude about the band and I need noone to tell me, after three years with a band, how to "work it" or it's all my fault. : )
I've been on this site since 2003 and trust me, I have researched just about everything they have here and I don't think DS is for me. I do like the fact that I could eat basically what I want and still lose weight...that almost sounds too good to be true but I know it does work. I'm scared of the more invasive surgeries, including the RNY, but I can't keep this band and the severe reflux it has given me. Also, my surgeon does not offer anything other than RNY and the band, but, if I'm self pay I guess I can see whatever doc I want to! I know my surgeon would offer me a revision with removal of my band at a discount but no discount is going to do me any good unless I can come up with the funds. I'm actually thinking about getting a part time job answering calls at home. I guess if I REALLY want it, I will find a way and just do whatever it takes to get it. Waiting really sucks though.

Another suggestion, is, have you checked out the "Light-weights" board??  I noticed on your ticker that your BMI is under 40.
