I had my the VBG in Aug 2000 and was able to lose about 90 lbs.  A year and a half later I became pregnant and had a child.  Since then, I have regain all my weight back and am actively seeking a revision.  Does anyone have any recommendations.  I am in Houston and would like a Doctor that has a lot of experience with revisions as I understand they carry more risk.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

I would suggest sending a PM to Dr Husted In Kentucky. He would know if it can be revised. I am not familiar with the VBG but  he is a revisionist specialist. I had a RNY to DS in May with him.

Good Luck!

Thank you for the response.  I have have so many concerns because of the risks.  Who did your inital surgery if you dont mind me asking?  I had mine done by Dr. Beryl Harberg.  I need to get my medical records but he is no longer in practice so i am not sure where to go for that.

I am in same situation as you were regarding dr. Harberg. Can you please let me know if you were able to obtain your records? I had my surgery in 2002

Dr. Harberg did my VBG September 2005; I started having complications in 2006, my revision was a ,medical emergency. My revision to RNY has turned out to be the best for me, I too was very concerned with the risks. There are many of us who chose the wrong surgery the first time, and the weight loss and gain isn't what we expected. I would recommend getting a consult with St. Laurent. I'm here to support you, email me anytime!  Katrina
