LapBand to Gastric questions

I was banded 11/08. I am not happy with my weight loss thus far and when I went for a fill I was told the port has flipped. Needless to say, since fixing it would cause another surgery, my surgeon suggested that I just have the band removed and have the gastric bypass. Can anyone tell me about the recovery process compared to the lap band? With the band, I was out of the hospital on Friday and back to work on Monday. Will I need a longer recovery time? Also, I am wondering about my diet with Gastric compared to the band. Anyone have any input for me? I appreciate any and all advice/comments.

My advice is to RESEARCH, RESEARCH, RESEARCH!!!!
This is a slower board, but a good board.  You should also post on the RNY board, and the DS board.
I am working toeards an RNY to a DS revision.  This was my personal decision.  Wish that I had the DS the first time around, but, I cannot go back in time.
Recovery-wise, it would depend on, if you have it open, or lap.

Good Luck!!!!

I actually considered revising from the band to the RNY and at the last minute (2 weeks out) I realized that I wanted this to be my last WLS and so went for the DS.  I didnt want the pouch anymore and since the ENRY malabsorption is very close to the alabsorption of the DS I would rather have a fully functional tummy then what the RNY offered and went with the DS. Just visit all the boards and research research research !!!!  Best of luck !!
