Hi!

So about 7 years ago I had RNY WLS and now well I screwed up didnt use it as a tool and looking to get a revision.  Does anyone have any advice on where to start and what I need to do?  How easy is it to get an insurance company to pay for it?  Or Will they?  I have Group Health.

Thanks!

My story sounds similar to yours.  I also have group health insurance (through my employer).  My RNY revision was approved immediately.  I had surgery 4/8/09 and have lost 51 lbs. since.  I've had to totally change my lifestyle, and it feels so good to be able to exercise again.  I would just start with looking for surgeons in your area, and maybe go to your state's message board.
Hope this helps,

I would start by examining why you think you screwed up.  No matter what kind of revision you get, you have to put in the effort and change your ways.  I am speaking from experience only here, and not trying to be judgmental or harsh.  I have just recently come to this conclusion, I have to work at loosing weight.

The doc will most likley do some testing to see if there is a mechanical failure, which is very common with an rny! That also seems to be the easiest route to a revision approval.

If you can, a ds seems to be the best surgery out there with long term results. The lifestyle seems much easier to live with ( types of food).

All revisions carry risk. You need to read all you can, and make the best choice for YOU!

Good luck, if I can be of any help, just holler!

I ditto what Shele is saying.  RESEARCH, RESEARCH, RESEARCH.
Post questions on the RNY, and DS boards as well.  (those boards get more traffic which equals more responses!!)

There is a wealth of information out there!!!!

I too, am looking into having revision surgery.  For me, personally, I have decided on the DS.
You are welcome to check out my profile as well.
