I'll admit to just glancing over your post before i saw "junk"!  So are you saying that some gal on the DS forum put this together?

With all due respect, there are generalities on there that are NOT accurate.  ....and your myth section for example:  DS'ers may need to wear diapers ...you have it as a myth and not true.  Tell that to some of the folks on the DS Problems support site.

and then your last line is the disclaimer?

Can I encourage all of us to stay with facts--or our own personal experience?

Actually most of that information is posted from the www.dsfacts.com website which Im sure Haley would gladly direct you too... except after reaching her goal weight  with normal BMI and feeling aweome she is currently traveling in Egypt and having a wonderful time.   SHe posted about that the day she left a few days ago.
Its funny how NOT ONE of those diaper bearing DS'ers you speak of ever posts on the DS forum  at ANY time .. especially when Newbies come and ask specifically what kinds of problems DSers have. On the DS board.. the Poop Myth is constantly talked about because it is constantly being spewed out by uninformed persons or persons with a personal stake in supporting another sugery other than DS and so the DS patients have to correct the myth . I encourage you to read the DS board and stay with the facts and your personal experience as well.

Which surgeon does the www.dsfacts.com site belong to?

It was not created by, and does not belong to any surgeon, nor is it affiliated with any organization or business. There is a page there that explains who / why the page was created.

So, generalities about the RNY not acceptable, but about the DS, they are true?

The DS support site?  There is a yahoo group for weight loss surgery gone wrong.  The BPD DS in the past was performed much like the RNY, removing the pyloric sphincter, and just cutting the stomach in half.  This was done by Scopinaro.  Buchwald speaks to this and emphasizes that this is NOT the DS of today.

The DS of today has a vertical sleeve gastrectomy, leaving the pyloric sphincter intact.

I have had the DS for 24 weeks as of next Tuesday.  I do not wear a diaper.  In fact, check the boards, there are many of us that struggle with constipation.  We have to increase our fat consumption to combat constipation.

Just thought you should know.

Kathy

Hi, I've never been to this board before, so please forgive my not having previously introduced myself.

I notice that you ask people to "stay with the facts--or our own personal experience?"
I am confused.  You say the information is not accurate, and suggest the diaper issue is true, rather than myth. You also say to stick with personal experience. Does this mean you have a DS, and now wear diapers?
